John (26) was found in the 1881 Census with his wife Cather ine Greenall (20). They were living at Hill Top Farm, Barto n, Lancs, a farm run by Henry Greenall (57) originally fro m Ribchester. Other members of the family were Henry's wif e Sarah (52) from Myerscough, their children John (30), far m labourer, Jane (18), Henry (15). John & Catherine had alr eady produced their first child Edward, who was now 4 year s of age.

By 1891 Hill Top Farm was occupied by William & Ellen Bibb y from Whittingham, so we don't know what happened to Joh n and Catherine.
