In 1841 John (55) was living in Woodplumpton togther with h is wife Agnes (45), Robert (15) and Edward (13) according t o the census records.

By 1851 we see from the census that John was a tenant farme r of the 65.5 acre Hen Foot Farm, White Horse Lane, Myersco ugh, Barton, Lancashire. The farm was owned by the Duchy o f Lancashire, records of the tenancy are still to be checke d at the Duchy office in Forton. He had 3 servants, Thoma s Blacow (53), an agricultural labourer from Thornton, Mar y Catterall (19), a milkmaid from Myerscough and James Bill ington (15), an agricultural labourer from Woodplumpton.

By 1861 the census shows us that John had died and that Agn es was living in Woodplumpton at the Red Lyon together wit h Robert Ireland (47), a farmer born in Woodplumpton, his w ife Ann (41) born in Thornton, their daughter Mary Alice (3 ) born in Woodplumpton. Agnes (67) born in Thornton was rec orded as "Aunty´┐Ż and widow of a retired farmer.

In 1871 according to the census Agnes (77), widow, an annui tant born in Thornton was boarding at Clarkson Green toget her with Robert Ireland & Family, married, 57, farmer of 2 1 acres, born in Woodplumpton.
