William was born at 23, Brunswick Street, Preston. He was e ducated at Preston Parish School.

William left school at the age of 12 and started as a "hors e boy". Thereafter he served in the 1st World War in Franc e & Belgium. He worked as a railways platform foreman on ni ghts. Then he went into the railways delivery service and w as the first railwayman to drive a motorised veehicle. He a lso taught drivers in other Lancashire towns. He died o f a heart attack in his own bed in William Street, Ribbleto n. His wife was with him.

Ethel was born at 152, Hammond Street, Preston. She was edu cated at English Martyrs RC School. Her education cost �0-0 s-6d per week. She was a mill worker at the Aqueduct Mill i n Preston. Later she worked as a card room operative in th e Preston cotton industry. She also did home sewing and lau ndry, worked at the Royal Ordinance Munitions Factory in Ch orley and also in the Canteen of Greenbank Warehouses in Pr eston after William's death.

James Parker & his wife Maria brought up their family at 23 , Brunswick Street, Preston. James died in Lancaster Moor M ental Hospital after a nervous breakdown.
